After four days of round-robin competition, the group stage of ESL One Birmingham 2026 has wrapped up, setting the stage for the playoff bracket kicking off March 26 at the bp pulse LIVE Arena in Birmingham. Sixteen teams competed across two groups for $1,000,000 USD and ESL Pro Tour points tied directly to Esports World Cup 2026 qualification. Eight teams punched their tickets through, while the remaining eight head home.
The format was two groups of eight, all matches played as best-of-two series. The top two finishers from each group earned upper bracket starts in the playoffs, while the third and fourth-place finishers dropped into the lower bracket.

Before the playoffs get underway, Gocore has full tournament tracking, daily match tips, and Pick'ems available for all Birmingham fixtures. Lock in your upper and lower bracket predictions before the first series tips off.
From the opening day of the group stage, the Dota 2 live scoreboard in Group A pointed to a Western European takeover. Tundra Esports and MOUZ both finished Day 1 with perfect 4-0 records, looking like the clear frontrunners. That picture changed sharply over the following days.

Team Yandex, the reigning PGL Wallachia Season 7 champions and EPT leaderboard leaders entering the tournament, ground their way to the top with back-to-back 2-0 sweeps over GamerLegion and BetBoom Team in Day 3. A six-game win streak closed out their group stage run, giving them a dominant 12-2 record and the top seed in Group A.
Tundra absorbed a stumble mid-tournament but steadied themselves to finish second with an 11-3 record, securing the second upper bracket slot. MOUZ dropped from their Day 1 peak to an 8-6 finish but held enough of a cushion to take third place and a lower bracket berth. PARIVISION rounded out the Group A qualifiers in fourth, while GamerLegion, Yakult Brothers, BetBoom Team, and REKONIX were eliminated. REKONIX was the first team to be officially sent home.
Group B unfolded differently. Team Spirit opened with an early lead, but Aurora Gaming quickly overtook them and did not look back. The multinational roster posted the best overall group stage record of any team in the tournament, fuelled by back-to-back sweeps over Nigma Galaxy and Xtreme Gaming on Day 2. Aurora were the first team to officially clinch a playoff berth, wrapping it up before the final day of the group stage had even started.

Team Spirit held their ground through a competitive Group B to finish second and claim the remaining upper bracket seed. Team Falcons, who opened with a difficult 1-3 record on Day 1, recovered with a clean 4-0 run in Day 2 to secure third place and a lower bracket start. Xtreme Gaming rounded out the Group B qualifiers in fourth. Virtus.pro, OG, Nigma Galaxy, and paiN Gaming were all eliminated.
One name defined the group stage at ESL One Birmingham 2026: Aurora Gaming's Indonesian mid laner Mikoto. Averaging 11.75 kills and 12.38 assists against just 1.25 deaths per game across Aurora's group stage run, Mikoto set the standard for individual performance at the event. His most remarkable outing came in Aurora's dominant second game against Xtreme Gaming, where he posted a perfect 14-kill, 14-assist scoreline on Storm Spirit. The performance was a strong indication of just how controlled Aurora's style has been throughout the preliminary stage.
For those assessing the Dota 2 betting site landscape ahead of the playoffs, Aurora's consistency and Mikoto's form make them a compelling pick to go deep from the upper bracket. Yandex enter the second week with the momentum of a six-game win streak and the confidence of a team that just took down PGL Wallachia Season 7. Adding another layer of uncertainty to an already open bracket: Valve released Patch 7.41 on the final day of the group stage, removing the Facets mechanic entirely and introducing nine new items to the game. All eight playoff teams will navigate a significantly altered patch in a competitive setting for the first time when the bracket begins, which makes Birmingham's second week as unpredictable as any playoff stage this season.
